Oya became brujería when she was a young girl, after demons swarmed her small village and slaughtered her family. not wanting another to feel the same as her, she buckled down and studied various forms of witchcraft. her findings resulted in a summoning of a celestial hound, nameless until created.The hound was birthed from ash, blood, bones, and Oya's own soul. bound by ethereal magics, Maw was her trusted hound; her size alone proved to be destructive against demons and the portals they spawned from. as Oya's Maw became a staple myth across the globe, Oya's age started to show, the more damage and power Maw utilized the more she absorbed the lifeforce, and soul, of her creator.Eventually, Oya and her Maw ended up in Joseon Era Korea. demons ran rampant in the area proving ever dangerous for Oya herself, she found herself staying with a local family. the family, a young woman and her husband, helped take care of Oya as Maw ripped through waves and waves of demons. when the waves of supernatural slowed down, long after the woman gave birth to a son, daughter and her husband died in the war, Oya chose to free Maw, and gave her a name; Zariah Synnova Nocte.With her new humanoid form, Zariah still protected the small village, but this time she was hidden with beauty and song. As Zariah, she felt drawn to the previous family that once protected her mother; they had fallen to proverty after Oya passed. the son, Jinu, became her passion and solidified her heart to the family. They created great music together, both literal and figurative.Zariah caught the eye of the royals, her uniqueness earned her a spot as a concubine in the palace, despite this, she used her new found royalty as a way to strengthen her bond with Jinu and his family; offering more money than his Bipa alone had ever earned.And then it happened... in love with a man and the peace that came along with it, despite her betrayal of the Palace. she got too comfortable. too unaware. demons swarmed the village. ripped through the palace gates and villagers with the kind of efficiency that didn't care about social status... the hound woke up. furious and hungry, the smokey beast jumped to action, slaughtering every demon that threatened her peace.But when the flames died down, she found herself face-to-face with the only people she loved more than life itself.
